Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
- tablespoons white sugar
- teaspoon dried basil leaves
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook and stir ground beef until browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a mixing bowl, combine mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer with 4 lasagna noodles, then spread with one third of the cheese mixture. Repeat layers twice more, ending with meat sauce on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
